Cove - Pros and Cons

I have mixed feelings about this product and their services, and I'll share the pros and cons I've experienced so far. I'll start with the cons: After searching and researching several security systems and products, I eventually settled on Cove for two main reasons (which ended up not being the case). 1) It was advertised that I would get 70% off plus a free HD camera with my purchase, however, I never did find where or how I could get my free HD camera. Luckily the 70% off deal did happen (side note: the brand of cameras that they use, which is Eufy, can be bought on amazon for way cheaper than what they're charging, but the only caveat would be that you can't connect it to their services and it would just be self-monitoring). And 2) I read that their security system can be linked to and controlled by the Alexa app - which, frustratingly, is not true at all. In fact, there are numerous reviews/complaints on their Alula platform (which is the behind-the-scenes system/software used to control all the security features and you won't encounter until you've set up your entire system) that state over and over again that it's extremely difficult to link the Alexa app, if not at all. You would think someone, some where would get working on fixing this technical issue, but apparently not. And it's the second reason most of all that's the frustrating part for me because everything in my home is controlled by Alexa. Instead, I have to jump between the Alexa/Blink app to view my blink camera feeds and the Cove app in order to view my Cove camera feeds as well as control the rest of the Cove security system (which is more annoying than difficult and I'm crossing my fingers that Cove will do something about connecting the Alexa app). One other minor con that I can think of, is that you can only have one security key pad (which is incorporated into the main monitor) rather than having the option to have additional stand-alone key pads (key pads without a monitor) to arm/disarm your system from different locations in your home (like I did with Xfinity). Now for the Pros. The entire system (cameras, sensors, and the miscellaneous ancillaries I purchased with the system) was absolutely easy to set up and get running without professional installation. The only hard part about the set up process was picking a location to place the equipment at. Another pro is when I did run into a couple of technical issues during the set up that required me to contact their technical support, the response time was great (I called instead of chatting online) and their agents were absolutely knowledgeable about how to fix my issues. Another pro that I have to give Cove credit for, is the selection of equipment that they offer, which includes panic buttons (worn as a necklace and can be assigned to different individuals you designate if desired), fob remotes that you can attach to your set of keys and can arm/disarm your system remotely (like when you're outside your house, getting ready to leave or just coming home), glass-break detection sensors that compliment the window sensors, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, flood alarms, and numerous other products to choose from. Last but not least, the cost for the professional monitoring services are really not that bad of a price (I just hope that if and when I need them, they come through as promised). So overall, I'm content with this brand but not completely satisfied. If they would fix the Alexa thing as well as make it possible to have additional keypads in various locations, then I would give them 5 stars. Consider wisely. UPDATE 03/25/25 - from ⭐️⭐️⭐️ to. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ After publishing my review, representatives from Cove immediately reached out to me to offer some resolutions for the issues I’ve mentioned. Needless to say, their response to my review was swift and nothing short of amazing. Not only did they acknowledge my review with a brief public response, but they personally reached out to me to genuinely fix what I didn’t like. An amazing gentleman by the name of Nick (shoutouts to you my friend for being top notch) followed up with me to advise me that 1) the option for additional keypads is absolutely possible (so I bought a second one), 2) even though linking the Alexa app to control the full suite of features of the Cove system is not yet available, they are working on it as we speak and Nick even went so far as to research a great work around for linking the Cove cameras to the Alexa app (gotta say, I’m floored he did that and it worked), and 3) he made it happen so that I got my free camera as promised, which will be shipped out with the additional keypad that I purchased. For the record, I’ve gone from just content with Cove products and services, to fully satisfied. Thank you Cove and thank you Nick for going above and beyond!

Joseph Saves Cove!

The system itself, I cannot tell you yet because I recently just purchase. So far, it was a hassle to install, the cove forums and instruction is outdated and doesn’t work with my system. It took me hours on end to not get it done. I had contacted Joseph through cove live support and man! He was great! Had everything up in running now! Now, I think he saved the company some faces from me haha. Let’s see how well the whole system is from here! The product seems okay not that expensive looking but not bad either. Platform is little outdated for my taste too, I figured by 2025 it would be more advance and user friendly. A bit bland but not too shabby I say.

I needed to replace my main panel as it…

I needed to replace my main panel as it was not connecting to the cellular anymore. I had earned enough dollars to replace it for free. Once I received the unit they walked me through the process over the phone. It took a little over an hour, but the representative was patient and worked smoothly with me. I should note that I have a LOT of sensors, I have 22 window sensors, 6 door sensors, motion detectors, smoke and CO detectors, and also water sensors. Unfortunately my smoke and CO detectors were not compatible, so they gave me a big discount to replace them. Overall great to work with.

The ease of installing and getting…

The ease of installing and getting started with a system that is like a body guard at every place you nee to have protected, my windows, doors, and yes I'm also notified if my dishwasher, washing machine or commode leaks. Makes me feel like I have help staying a step in front of disaster if it happens! Can sleep safely at night knowing all doors and windows will alarm and let me know if anyone tries to get in and then they send the police if I don't have the time to call them.
